Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh H30 stalls after starting, lawn edger, tecumesh

Hello,
I have a Tecumesh H30 lawn edger that starts on the first pull, then after about 30 to 45 seconds it stalls.  I then immediately pull the rope and it starts on the first pull. I can see gas in the gas tube that goes from the engine to the carburetor. This stalling and starting happens over and over again until my lawn is edged.  Can you help?

Have you replaced the spark plug?  How old is the edger?  Have you checked the headbolt torque?  200 inch pounds.

Check the intake gasket.

I suspect the carb is dirty but I would also check all of the above before tearing into the carb.
