Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Tractor carburator, craftsman lawn tractor, hp engine

Question
I have a LT1000 Craftsman lawn tractor with a 20 HP engine. I have had the carburator apoart 3 times and cleaned it out with compressed air and carbutartor cleaner. The tractor still will not run. It will start if I pour gas in the intake, but acts like the bowl is not filling up. I noticed at the bottom of the bowl is an electrical connection. Is that some sort of sender unit and could that be bad. Also, if I take the fuel line loose from the carb, the little pump does spurt gas out, so I think that is working. Do you have anymore ideas, and what is that unit on the bottom of the bowl?

Answer
Hi Shannon,

Sorry for my delay.  It was a busy holiday here.

I have never seen an electrical connection on the bowl.  Maybe it is for the fuel pump.  If it runs when you add fuel directly, then something is either still clogged in the carb or the float is sticking.

I am swamped with questions and can't give follow up answers until next week.  Sorry.

Good Luck,
Michael
