Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 19.5hp lawn tractor wont start, twin cylinder engine, briggs stratton

Question
Craftsman 19.5hp lawn tractor won't start. Model 917.270822  It has a Briggs & Stratton Turbo Twin cylinder engine- 1999 model.  I mowed last week & it was running fine when I stored it.  Today it turns over, but now won't start.  The battery is fully charged.  I've changed both spark plugs, put on new air & fuel filters.  The oil is at the proper level.  The fuse isn't blown.  The safety switches are working.  Starting fluid in the carb doesn't help.  There was only one sound that it would start, but nothing with all later attempts using starting fluid.  Any suggestions?  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Sharon,

Sorry for my delay.  The holiday was busy here.

It sounds like there is no spark.  Check it at the spark plugs, after removing them, reconecting the wires and grounding them to the engine block.  If no spark, I would suspect the ignition coil.  If the wiring to it is correct and intact but still no spark, replace it.

Good Luck,
Michael

I am swamped with questions and won't be able to take follow up questions until next week.  Sorry.
