Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Pressure Washer Troubleshooting, cell model, new spark

Question
I have a Devilbiss Ex-Cell Model #EXWGV1721 Pressure Washer and I can't get it to run.  I drained the Gas Tank and put new gas in and also bought a new spark plug and installed.  I did get the machine to run for about 2 or 3 seconds.  The machine has been in the garage for around 1 year without being started.  I do know it is getting fire because I put the plug on the side of the motor and pulled the cord and seen fire coming from the new plug.  I would like to know what else to do to get it started.  I also have sprayed carburetor cleaner in the carburetor and this hasn't done any good.

Answer
Hi Ronald,

Try to start it while squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb intake.  If it starts and you can keep it running by adding fuel, then the carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside.
You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.   A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
