Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2 cycle gas hedge trimmer, gas hedge trimmer, tank fuel

I have a Sears hedge trimmer that wont start. The primer bulb doesn't fill when I try to prime the carb. I have already replaced the fuel lines as I noticed that they were cracked. This did not fix the problem.I have checked all the usual suspects(spark plug etc) and have disassembled and re- assembled the carb and didn't notice anything wrong. The gaskets "look"good..but  what do I know?  Can you help me out?  Please..

The machine is 5yrs old but has less than 10 hrs of use..it is a craftsman hedge trimmer mod # 358.795660.....thanx

Hi Tom,

I would check the in-tank fuel filter. If the fuel flow is good from there to the carb, look for a problem with the check valve in the priming system.  Check for spark at the plug and finally try to start it by squirting fuel in the carb's intake.
