Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snapper riding mower, rubber wheel, snapper riding mower

Question
Hi , I have an old snapper riding mower with  the rubber wheel that moves back & forth on the flat pulley & it changes the speed of the mower.  problem is the mower does not move at all. can u tell me what is inside that axel that may cause it to not move & is it hard to repair & cost ( might there be a pin that is sheard ) thank you Ray

Answer
Hi Ray,

If every part is moving up until the gearbox or axle, then you will need to disassemble it.  A gear or pin might be sheared inside.  It wont be hard to disassemble it and take a look.  Depending on what parts are needed you can decide whether to repair or replace the mower.

Let me know how you make out.
