Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): adjusting brakes on a murray riding lawnmower, exact configuration, linkage

I have a circa 2001 17.5 hp Murray riding lawnmower.The brakes don't work very well.Was wondering how do I adjust the brakes/clutch on it?

Hi Gerald,

I'm not familiar with the exact configuration of the brake set-up on your rider.  I would trace the linkage from the pedal to the brakes.  Look for a threaded section that you can adjust.
