Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan chainsaw, starter cord, recoil

Question
Hi: I recently had my chainsaw cleaned and adjusted and it worked fine when I got it home. Now, when I pull the starter cord, it only releases a couple of inches and locks. I am 81 years old and not very strong. How can I make the saw easier to start? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi CW,

The recoil shouldn't be locking.  If it is, because of the recoil itself, you would need to remove the assembly and take a look inside.  I don't see how the lock up can be engine related unless something has broken internally.

Let me know what you find.
