Ryobi 725r 31cc 15" weed eater-oil and gas mix is correct-checked carburator for dirt and it was clean-cleaned fuel line-once you get it started with throttle in "c" position(a-choke, b-low idle, c-running speed) it soon dies.  Blueish smoke coming from exhaust.  Can you give me some ideas on how to fix this.  It is only a couple years old.

Hi Cindy,

Can you adjust the carbs mixture screws?  Note their settings and try turning the high speed screw in or out an eigth of a turn.  If there are caps on the screws pry them off.

Let me know how you make out,
Michael

Michael,
Tried this and weed eater will idle fine but dies when you give it gas (accelerate).  Any other ideas?  Thanks for the speedy response!
Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy,

The low speed jet affects the idle but the high speed jet affects the top speed and power.  Re-check it to see if it is set at 1 & 1/2 turns out.  If that is okay then I would suspect the carb still having something plugged with gummed fuel or dirt, a carb that needs rebuilding or replacement or an internal engine problem.  A compression test would be the last thing to check.
Make sure that the muffler, exhaust port and spark screen are not clogged with carbon.

Keep me posted,
Michael
