Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): homelite chainsaw brake, tool show, debris

Question
The brake on my new chainsaw Timberman45cc Model ZR 10942 seems to be stuck. I just got it at a tool show about two months ago.
I pull back on the chain brake and it clicks forward just enough to lock the chain. Could a spring be broken. Can the brake be repair or do I need to replace the whole unit.

Answer
I would definetely check the spring.  You should be able to remove the bar cover, the bar and chain and then have access to all the brake parts.

Clean the area with compressed air and visually inspect the parts associated with the brake.

I can't think of any adjustments for any brand of saw so your problem is most likely a broken part and/or debris causing the parts not to work.

Let me know what you find.
