Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 7 HP Pull Cord, head gasket, cord assembly

Question
The pull cord on my snowblower broke or became deteached from the pull start coil.  How do I take the pull cord assembly apart to re-attach. Do I need to worry about the spring before taking anything apart.  7HP Tecumsew SNo King engine about 8 years old that has been running great (after a recent head gasket job)

These are good directions on repairing starters.
To remove your starter you may have to remove the engine blower housing.  Sometimes the starter itself can be removed.
