Hi,
my snapper mower with briggs and stration 5hp, has been sitting, under cover for a year. I tried starting it, no go.There is no spark. Where do i go first?

Hi Todd,

An after thought:
When you get to this stage, check the coil to flywheel gap and clean both surfaces of rust.

Michael

OK i cleaned the two contacts that are on the coil, there is no gap between the coil and the flywheel, and seemingly no way to adjust....what am I not seeing?

Answer
Hi Todd,

The coil to flywheel gap should be .012.  There are 2 screws that attach the coil.  Loosen them and slip a feeler gage between the coil and flywheel.  If still no spark and the ground wire to the coil is good then the coil is most likely defective.
