Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman snowblower, craftsman snowblower, sized hole

Question
i have a 5hp snowblower that the gas went bad in. sprayed carb cleaner in it and got running but now when i prime it gas squirts out of pinhole sized hole on side of carb.also while its running.i dropped bowl because i thought float was too high and bent tongue to lower it but it still leaks, also no gas in float so its good.oh,its a 4 stroke. could carb be still dirty or do you think i should chage needle and seat in bowl?if so how do you change seat.great site, thanks brian

Answer
Hi Brian,

The carb most likely still has some dirt, debris or gummed fuel  inside.  I would re-clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.  A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.
If you just want to try the needle and seat, remove the seat with a drywall or other screw.  The new one installs, ribbed side in.

Let me know how you make out.
