Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 5hp. Briggs Fuel Question, vacuum valve, fuel mixture

Question
Model # 135202, 5HP, Runs on fuel sprayed directly to carb, Cleaned, and soaked twice as needed in carb cleaner. Blew all passages with compressed air, replaced diaphram, cleaned up vacuum valve, took compression test, reveals 75psi. Cleaned an blew out fuel pickup.Still will not pick up fuel to run. Have read in other threads that main jet may be plugged. Where is main jet located? Again, all fuel passages seem to be clean, including fuel mixture passage. When this engine had been donated to me it was locked up, and there was a piece of something that had caused a nick in the cylider wall not allowing the engine to turn over. I honed the nick out, and now engine turns over fine. Valves appear to all be intact, and opening and closing as they should. Any idears would be greatly appreiciated, as this thing is getting the best of me. Thank you for your generous help, and hope you may be able to guide me in the right direction. The garbage can may be an option. TTT.........

Answer
How old is the engine?

Is the carb diaphragm located on the side of the carburetor?

It's possible that the carb is warped and leaking air where it bolts to the tank.  You can use 2 gaskets to solve this problem most of the time but sometimes you have to mill the carb base.

I've also found older engines where the small fuel cup inside the tank had broken and fell off.  The small cup is where the carb actually picks up fuel for the engine.

Let me know about the carb diaphragm.  This will tell me exactly which carb you have.
