Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Echo Cainnsaw 660EVL No Spark, model numbers, ign

Question
Hi John, I have an old Echo 660EVL chainsaw that has no spark at the end of the plug wire. I have checked the on/off switch and that's okay. I don't know how to determine if the problem is with the coil or the ignition module. Can you help? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Don:

>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Echo) and Enter the Model Numbers (660EVL). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View.
>>Usually when a Unit has an Ign Module and a Coil, the Ign Module is the Cause for No Fire if the Ign Switch and Cut Off Wire is Good.
>>If you are Sure the Ign Switch is Good, then Replace the Ign Module.
>>It is Very Rare for a Coil to Go Bad. Usually if you are Replacing a Coil, it is an Ign Coil that has the Ign Module Built in and the Module is Bad and Not the Coil, but the Coil is Replaced Sue to the Ign Module being Built in.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
