The engine will only run when you pour gas into the inlet of the carb, took off the float bowl, and cleaned, its refilling from the tank ok, but is there a strainer of filter thats keeping the gas from getting to the carb.? Thanks Jp

If there is a filter, which most have, it is built into the fuel tank.
When you say inlet, do mean the engine will run if you pour/squirt fuel directly into the carburetor throat?

Eric yes, kinnda like priming , a little to crank it and a little to keep it running, but the bowl is getting and the float seems ok
AnswerAbout the only problem we find with the Honda's are dirty carburetors.
You should remove, dis-assemble and clean the carb with compressed air and carb cleaner. Set the air compressor to about 20 psi.
If it still will only run with priming after the first cleaning then increase the compressor air to about 40 psi and clean again.
The carburetors are very simple on the Honda engines and have very few parts. Just blow/clean all the carb orfices and you should be back in business.
