Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Old Snapper Rear Engine Riding Mower Electrical Problem?, snapper rider, shape object

Question
My 14 year old Snapper Rider Rear Engine Mower starts ok and I can shift gears and it moves, but when I try to engage cutting blade, it stalls. It looks like a problem in the
wiring, but I don't know how to fix it.
I dont know a thing about repairing this since I am a woman : )
Any help would be much appreciated!

Answer
You should have a plastic cover covering the belt area.  Remove the cover and look for an electric wire(s).  See if they are connected.

Also, if your key switch or push button is mounted on the side of the tractor there may be a safety interlock device inside.  You will have to remove the screw holding the cover in place to see if it has an interlock device.  The interlock is a round shape object with several wires coming out of it.

Let me know what you find.
