Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weed Eater Trimmer Problems, smoke oil, pipe cleaner

Question
Thanks again.  I have done all that and now attempting to put it back together.  I have put the engine back into its casing, screwed in the screws and when pull the string to test, it seems like it is jammed.  It doesn't allow me to pull out the string when the entire engine, etc, are put back.

Not sure why, any help?

Hi There,
Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

I have a Weed Eater Trimmer and just suddenly, it doesn't start.  The gas/oil seems right.  When I pull the string, i can see smoke/oil shooting out of the muffler.  I have already changed the spark plug so that is not the problem.  Do you places where I can find accessories.  Or suggestions of what else I should try.

Thanks again!

Hey Jimmy,
This sound and is a common case of clogged carburetor. What you must do is soak the carb in pure gasoline for 1 hour or so and then clean every hole in the carb with pipe cleaner and/or compressed air. Any pipe cleaner is ok to use. After you have done thsi soak the carb again in fresh new gsoline to get all the rest of the bad stuff out. I also suggest putting any type of fuel line cleaner in the gas tank for 24 hours and then drain and and try to start it with fresh new gas. Do not however soak any gaskets as they may melt under potency of the gasoline. Good Luck. Hope this helps. Ps. Try washing/replacing the air filter.

Hey Jimmy,
It looks like you have a jammed coil. What you have to do is take off the motor cover and try to un-jam the coil. Try untightening the screw in the middle of the starter. It helps.
