Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Remove blade holder on Snapper RER, spindle nut, blade holder

Question
I have a Snapper HiVac RER purchased in '98. The blade holder/bar is bent, causing excessive deck vibration. I want to remove it, and straighten or replace. I have removed the bottom spindle nut but am unable to loosen the blade bar. It has been soaking in WD40 for three days. I have tapped with hammer, and even tried using a gear puller. I stopped tightening the gear puller when I noticed that the bar was bending. I have also tried local heating, hoping to break the rust/grime/whatever is holding it. Nothing seems to break it loose.

This bar is the new type (#3-1184), not the previous used by Snapper with the jack screws. It appears to be threaded. It also has a washer / spacer whose ID is smaller than the spindle thread that it needs to slide over for removal. I have tried holding the top spindle nut at the pulley with a wrench while tapping the bar leftwise, and trying to loosen and turn off.

I am at a loss here. Do I need to remove the spindle pulley and drop the entire spindle housing to remove this blade holder ? I thought this was a simple repair. What am I missing here ?

thanks

Answer
Sorry it's taken so long to respond...the allexperts site has been having trouble.

Do you have an impact gun?

I've had to remove the entire spindle and use a large press to get some of those apart.

What is the model number of the mower?
Let me know.
