I have a new homelite trimmer and used it once for five minutes before it quit on me. I did add oil to gas before putting it in the tank. What else could be wrong. The pull cord does not budge when pulled.
Answer -
Hi Julie,

Was the trimmer brand new or new to you?  Was the oil mixed to at least a 40:1 ratio?  Was there a bang or clunk sound as it quit or did it just stall?

Michael

Brand new, oil mixed as describer in the guide, and it just stalled no noises.

Answer
Hi Julie,

It sounds like the engine is seized but to make sure, you will need to remove the recoil assembly (To rule the recoil out) and try to turn the engine over by hand or with a wrench.  If it turns over, then the recoil must be jammed and will need correcting.  If the engine still will not budge then it has internal damage.  Maybe a part just failed even though it is new.  It should be under warrany, so you could probably just return it.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
