Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): string trimmer wont start, adjustment screws, carburater

Question
Hi, my weed eater(GTI 15 T) didnt run well the first time i ran it this spring then for most a the summer it ran fair but now it dies and after restarting it i turned the carb. adjustment screws it seemed to run well while it was running but now it wont start at all.It has spark. I looked at the sparkplug and it was wet so I assume it gets gas but when I pull the rope I dont even get a sputter no matter if I choke it half choke it or not at all. Do you no of a sight that has a schematic for these. one more thing a few years ago it acted the same way i took it to the shop he changed a very fine screen in the carburater so i took it apart and soaked the screen blew it out and put it back its not dirty. Any suggestions on how i may get it started again

Answer
Hey Jim,
I had the same problem with my own string trimmer. What you have to do is clean out the carb(soak it in gasoline for about 1 hour). To clean it out get a pipe cleaner with metal spokes(the smallest size the hardware store has). Run the wire through every small hole in the carb. After run a little bit more of the fresh gasoline throught the carb. Re-assemble it and put in fresh gaoline/oil mix and change the plug. That little screen that the guy replaced is called the carburetor diaphragm and if the diaphragm is old it should be replaced. If the engine starts without the old diaphragm its was just the carb. Let me know how this works out!   NOTE: When you clean out the carb and black gasoline is pouring out it is a good sign. Keep flushing/soaking and cleaning the carb until all balck gasoline is gone.
