Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman 6 hp eager-1, harmonic style, eager 1

Question
My wife hit a culvert and it died. Starts for a short while then dies. Thought maybe flywheel key but never worked on Sears engine. How do I get to the flywheel and do you think that's the problem?
Thank's Dave

Answer
Usually a sheared key will cause it not to start at all but if something was hit, it would be wise to check the flywheel key and the blade hub before you proceed any further.  You need to remove the blower/starter housing to gain access to the flywheel.  Then you should use a puller (harmonic style) to remove the flywheel once the retaining nut is taken off.  Hope this helps.
