Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman starting problem, gas oil, lawn mower

I was mowing the lawn last week and the lawn mower (Craftsman riding mower 17 hp) just stopped.  When trying to start it, it turned but didn't turn over.  It acted as if it was going to start, but just keep 'winding'.  It will not turn over.  It has gas, oil changed.  I cleaned the air filter.  I checked the battery.  Any ideas?

Hi Derrick,

You will need to determine if there is a lack of spark or a lack of fuel.  Check for spark at the spark plug.  If good, squirt a little fuel or starting fluid into the carb intake while cranking the engine.
