Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine cutting out when at angle?, sensor switch, full tank

Question
Yes, it has been working fine for years and suddenly this year it is acting up. maybe in a way I am answering my own question-could it be a dirty carb? We have oxygenated fuel up here and that plays havoc when the stuff has sat in the tank/carb for the winter? If not what do you think I should do?

Yesterday I was mowing with a full tank and this happened. I do not believe that it has a low oil level switch, It is a Briggs 2cylinder IC 21hp.
The Oil is where it is supposed to be. It does not do it when the mower is right side down. Just when it is right side up, some times it wont do it but......

Hello, I have a 2000 Craftsman 21hp 42 deck lawnmower that is driving me nuts. She pops off and runs just fine after about 15 minutes when the mower is being driven on a hillside with the right hand side up it starts to cut out.
I have taken and secured up the switch under the seat to see if that was the problem-no. Usually things start to act up once I have "fixed" something but I have not touched this mower. It only does it once it is warmed up, all but once at least 20 minutes of running time. Any ideas-float level?

Answer -
It could be a float or fuel pump problem.  Is the tank full when you tried to mow on the hill?

Does the engine have a low oil sensor switch?  A low oil sensor switch is just a float and will sometimes cause the same symptom.

Let me know.

Did the mower used to mow on the same incline without any problems?

Answer
Usually old fuel refuses to burn so I doubt the fuel is the problem.  It could be a carb problem. At this point the carb is the best place to start with such a unique problem.  I'd get a rebuild kit from your local dealer and rebuild/clean the carb.  The rebuild build kit should come with all the parts you need, even the fuel pump parts.  I'd also replace the fuel filter.

Let me know what happens.
