Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 37.7cc Gas Brushwacker, air screw, screw out

Question
This 2 cycle engine will start, but will not accelerate. I have replaced the spark arrester, it was plugged, and installed a new air filter.  Have removed the carburetor and cleaned it out.  (I may have not cleaned the carb as well as you have said in your commit on (HERE IS YOUR FIX))There are only two screw adjustments, one is for idle and the other is the air screw. Turning the air screw out or in, does not make any difference.  Any suggestions?

This usit was bought in 1986, Model No: 636.786232 Craftsman 37.7cc Gas Brushwacker. Had been running well but noticed last year is was having some problems.

Thank you for any help you may give.

Answer
If the engine doesn't respond to carb adjustment, there is still a blockage inside the carb.  You will need to make sure the carb is cleaned thoroughly.  Also, check to make sure there is no other debris in the fuel system (tank, etc.)  Hope this helps.
