Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): riding lawnmower, transaxle, linkage

Any hints on how to get a riding lawnmower out of a gear and back in neutral?  I can't start it or get it out of gear...thanks

Hi Mark,

You will need to inspect the clutch and entire shifter linkage.  If needed, remove the cover that the shifter goes through.  You might luck out and find that there is only a problem with the shifter.  If all looks good there, then the problem must be in the transmission or transaxle.  Either of those units are rarely an easy fix and are in most cases replaced with new or sent to the manufacturer for repair.
