Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower wont run, float bowl, soft brass

Question
Craftsman with Tecumseh motor starts but stalls immediately. It's a 5.5 HP motor; its model # is 143.985500.

Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Carburetor problem.  Drain the fuel tank.  Grab a rag or small container to catch some fuel from the carburetor float bowl.  With the rag or container under the carburetor float bowl, remove the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carburetor.  Drain all the fuel, clean the nut...there are some small holes.  Re-install the float bowl nut being careful not the strip the soft brass float bowl nut.

Refill with fresh, new fuel.  Check for leaks and see what happens.
