Eric,

There is spark and the engine is turning, it just doesn't want to spark the fuel and run. I suspect it may be there is not enough fuel to ignite. Does this make sense? When I cleaned the carburator, it was on the engine and very dirty on the outside of carb. Could I have washed some dirt further into it and clogged something that was not previousy clogged? Your thoughts are appreciated.

I have an 11 hp B&S which is just a few years old. It won't start. I recently had to replace the starter, the battery is strong, and it turns over well but it wont start. I cleaned carb,  checked spark plug, and tried starter fluid but it just keeps turning and sounds like nothing is firing. Any thoughts or ideas for what to try next would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Mike

First we need to  know if the engine is producing spark.  Do you have an inline spark tester to check for spark?

Let me know.

Answer
Have you tried starting the engine with starting fluid?

If it starts, or tries to start then you know your carburetor is faulty.

Carburetor cleaning is very common, i.e I'd suspect the carburetor needs to be cleaned.

Let me know what happens with the starting fluid.
