Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Help!, briges, push mower

Question
Hwy Michael
the other day i wanted to start my briges and straton push mower. Its been sittin for maybe 5 or 6 years, but when i ran it before that i had no problems with it just bought a new one casue of the body condition...anyways it pulled over easy but would not fire so i cleaned the carb by just blowing the junk off it with the air compressor i put a new gas tank on and new fuel line(just incase) and took the plug out and i got plenty of spark when i turned it over...
when i put the plug back in it would not even fire  but did get gas becasue the plug was wet after taking it out for a second time so the next day i tried a cold start becasue i thought i might of flooded it bad... still would not fire... What can i do? and how would you clean a carb?

Answer
Hi Tyler,

The carb may be okay.  To see, try to start it by squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb intake.
If it has fuel and spark then all an engine needs is compression.  Does it feel like it does when you pull it over?  If in doubt, test it.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
