Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas grill, sunbeam gas grill, electrode

Question
Hi Michael!

I e-mailed you a while ago about replacing some parts on my Sunbeam gas grill.   I received them and have installed the parts.   The ignitor switch is not working and it is all brand new.   I don't get it.   Any advice?

Thanks!
Carol Stahl

Answer
Hi Carol,

The igniter should spark on its own, if it is functioning.
If the igniter wire is connected to the clean terminal of the sparking electrode it should spark.
If you haven't already, remove the cooking grill, the rocks and grate to inspect the igniter electrode.  Hold a screwdriver between the electrode and the burner to shorten the gap. Adjust the electrode if needed.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
