Question
I have a 1970 cub cadet 127, 12 hp lawnmower with a kohler engine. can u tell me how much compression should i have on this eng.? i'm getting a lot of blowby coming out of the lovers on the small valve cover on the side of the engine. any help will be appreciated.. thank you ..Ray

Answer
Hi Ray,

If there is no auto compression release, you should have from 100-175 psi.  You may have valve clearance or valve seating problems.

If you can get your model # from your engine there may be useful info at:

Or check out the info for an M-12 engine at: http://www.kohlerengines.com/pdf/tp-2203-a.pdf

Good Luck,
