Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Ignition, time hope, safety switch

Question
My riding mower quit running while using it. It's getting fuel, has compression, but no spark. It turns over normally. All saftey switches seem to be OK. The engine is a later model 14.5 hp B&S I/C. Any Thoughts......Les

Answer
Disconnect all of the leads that go to the shutoff terminal on the engine and re-check for spark.  If you still have no spark, check that the armature gap is 0.010" from the flywheel.  If this clearance is correct and still no spark, replace the ignition module.  If you have spark after removing the shutoff wires, there is a problem with a safety switch.  Eliminate them one by one by bypassing one at a time.  Hope this helps.
