Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawnmower, briggs and stratton, air hammer

Question
how do you remove flywheel from a 3.5 briggs and stratton  lawn mower engine.  i am trying to put in new points.

Answer
Hi Raymond,

You can:
1. Use a flywheel puller.  (Available at a rental or auto parts store.)
2. Loosen the flywheel nut and tap on the crankshaft with a brass hammer while supporting the flywheel.
3. The method I use is to apply a flat tipped pneumatic air hammer to the top of the shaft, in place of the brass hammer.

Good Luck,
Michael
