I have a Yard Machine lawn mower (6HP/21" cut).  It stalls all the time.  Last year I changed the air filter and it helped for a while.  This year it is still stalling, but the air filter appears to be clean.  Any ideas?

Hi Jon,

Will it restart right after stalling?  We need to determine if the problem is a lack of spark or lack of fuel flow.  Check for spark at the spark plug electrode after it stalls.  If you have spark, then try to restart it and keep it running by squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb intake.

Let me know what you find,
Michael

Micheal,

It starts again after stalling.  I have to prime it of course, but it does start.  I looked at the spark plug, and the plug itself still looks good.

Answer
Hi Jon,

I suspect a fuel flow problem.  Usually this is due to dirt, debris or gummed fuel in the carb.  You will need to remove it, disassemble, clean all the small openings and blow it out with compressed air.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
