Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman mower will not stay running, internal passages, engine speed

Question
Just purchased a 1999 craftsman 6 hp mower.  It must be primed to start.  After approx 2-3 seconds, it dies.  It will continue running if continue to press the primer.  I removed the gas and replaced with new with carb cleaner.  I removed the bowl, cleaned and sprayed all with carb cleaner.  Once it does start, it runs OK.  But if I shut down, even hot, it must be primed many times to restart.  Can not fine how to adjust governor.  Former owner did play with and attempt to fix.  Do not know if govenor is adjusted correct.  Please advise and Thanks in advance. Answer
The governor is a separate issue to the running problem.  You might want to re-clean the carb and use a piece of tag wire to push through all of the internal passages and then follow up with carb cleaner.  The governor will not affect how it runs except for the engine speed.  For your particular engine, you should consult a dealer for the specific procedure for setting the governor.  Hope this helps.
