Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S flywheel removal, air hammer chisel, briggs stratton

I need to remove the flywheel from my Briggs & Stratton 14.5 hp o/h valve mower engine. Model # 287707, type 0225 01. Please help me figure out how. Thank you!! (The Riding Mower is a '95 Murray)

Hi David,

You can remove the flywheel by:  Using a flywheel puller.  Using a small pneumatic air hammer/chisel or brass hammer to tap on the crankshaft end with the flywheel nut loosened and light upward pressure applied to the flywheel.
