Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 3hp b&s, coil on snapper lawn mower, snapper lawn mower, spark plug wire

I have tried to revive my 17yr snapper lawn mower. I do not have spark. The coil has been removed and there are leads coming from it I do not know what to do with them.

How many wires/leads?

If your mower is 17 years old, then it should be a 1986 model year engine.  This means it has an electronic ignition coil, which means there should only be a high tension lead (spark plug wire) and a spade terminal on the side of bottom of the coil.  Is this what you have?
