Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawnmower engine, exaust, fuel flow

My 5hp Tiller will run only as long as I pour gas down the carb. It ran last year with dark black smoke from the exaust.

Sorry for the delay.  My ISP was down.

Black smoke is a sign of the engine showing wear but if it runs there may be some life left in it.  It sounds like the carb is gummed up or has dirt or debris in it.  You will need to remove, disassemble and clean the carb.  If that doesn't help, the carb may need to be rebuilt.  Make sure that you have a good fuel flow from the tank.
