Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 4 HP B& S, briggs stratton, oil capacity
QuestionHi, Marc;
I have a lawnmower with a 4 h.p. Briggs & Stratton, about 6 years old. In all of the literature that came with it, I cannot find the oil capacity. Every season I change the oil, and have to guess. I just go by trial and error. Thought maybe you would know the exact capacity, or at least something close! Thanks!

AnswerHonestly, the best way to get your oil level correct is adding a little at a time and re-checking (either with dipstick or notch in oil fill hole, depending on your model) until it reaches the correct level. A 4hp B&S usually takes between 500 - 750mL of oil. Hope this helps.
