Mower running fine when stored last winter.  When I got it out this summer it started just fine but when I release the Clutch/Brake with tractor in neutral engine dies.Engine runs as long as I keep the Clutch/Brake engaged. Air cleaner has been cleaned.
Engine Mod NO 917.257645  engine mod 28n707, type no 0160-01 purchased in 1995. 6 speed transaxle.

Got to be the clutch switch or transmission switch.  You should only have one or the other.

It is possible the switch is dirty or the connetion is corroded or the wires are bad...maybe a mouse chewed through them...it happens.

Find a wire and follow it until it hits the cluth pedal arm/linkage or transmission.  You will actually have to check several wires, but you should be able to track down the clutch safety switch easyly.
