I'm not getting any spark at the points !!
What is the sequence for getting spark ?

I rebuilt the carb....new points & condenser...
and a new coil... ?
My initial problem was when I give it power it misses & backfires....idling is fine !!

What would cause lose of power ? My small engine book burnt in a fire !!

Hi Butch,

The points time the coil.  The coil usually has the positive terminal connected to the battery and its negative terminal to the points.  When the points close, they ground the coil and the coil sends spark to the spark plug.  All I can suggest is re-check all the connections and test them with a test light.  
The initial problem you had would seem like timing to me also. You are on the right track.
