Snowmobile Repair: no start, crankcase pressure, exhast

Question
Hi I have a 1973 arcticat with a kawasaki tic440s2 engine that will not start. The person that I got it from said the engine was gone through last winter and ran good. Put it up for the summer and now no start. There is gas spark and 100 lb of comprestion. There is no crankcase pressure. It dose not pull at the carb or push at the exhast when turning over. I put a carb kit in but no change.Any help on this? Thanks Chris

Answer
Hello Chris,

It sounds like the previous owner didn't reassemble the engine correctly. I would disassemble every thing, install all new gaskets, and make sure the piston isn't scored, and that the seals are OK. Also, while reassembling the motor, check every thing, to make sure it is tight. Make sure the impulse fitting that hooks up to the carburetor hose is tight, ( this is a fitting that is barbed, and comes out of the crankcase). Here is the gasket set I would recommend, it includes the crank seals; http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/711033.html?id=hF3f6Na5  .  Hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck with the Cat! --Arcticatman
