Snowmobile Repair: coolant system on mxzx, coolant system, rear heat

Question
hey man.
my 2002 mxzx 440 was spewing out coolant from the bottle i think all over my engine.  I filled it back up to the right level, and started up the sled, and the spewing has stopped because i fiddled with the cap, and now it shuts tighter.  the only problem now is, the coolant doesn't seem to be reaching the rear heat exchangers.  i know about the "bleed valve" screw and have been opening that and tilting the sled up at the front the get the air out, but i just keep letting air out, and the coolant never seems to reach the rear.  i am not sure how long i should let this happen, or if their is maybe a leak in the system somewhere?  not sure what to do now, what would you recommend?  thanks
Drew

Answer
Hello Drew,

It is possible that the sled overheated a little, causing the over flow. Here is what I would do. Try taking the cap off of the sled, and also removing the bleed screws. Start the sled, and let it run awhile, maybe 5 minutes. Then, tighten the bleed screw, and shut the sled off. Let it cool, and then remove the cap and let it run another 5-6 mins. Then, install the cap one turn so that it is on loose. Rev the sled up, or even take it for a quick ride around the yard. This should get any air out of the system. If problems continue, try a cooling system cleaner/flushing fluid. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
