Snowmobile Repair: 1998 Arctic cat ZR600 with EFI, throttle switch, intermittent problem

Question
Hi:  The machine for the most part runs well.
Most of the time it will accelerate without any problems.  On occasion, when you let off the
throttle, and try to get back into it, the machine
has a flat spot.  It will not accelerate.  If you
let off again, the flat spot seems to go away.  It
is a very intermittent problem.  It can be very
annoying.  Two Arctic dealers could not remedy the
situation.  Any suggestions?  Thank you for your
time.  Steve.

Answer
Hello Steve,

Thank you for your patience. Sorry for the long wait for my response. It sounds like you need to install a new throttle switch shown here http://www.brownsleisureworld.com/Parts/SNOWMOBILE/1998/1998ZR600EFI(98ZRB-1998)/HANDLEBARANDCONTROLS.htm   , as well as a new throttle cable. What is probably happening, is the switch is sticking and causing intermit turning off of the engine, for a few seconds. I was able to locate the two parts used OEM on Ebay for over 100 less than OEM new parts. Throttle switch:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=26353&item=7139764349&rd=...   Throttle cable: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=26353&item=7139764370&rd=...   . I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
