Answer
Hello Diane,

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you sooner. To adjust the idle speed, you will need to turn the two screws located on the side of each carburetor. The screws are rather large, and located straight out. They are not the small screws on the side that are positioned at an angle. Start with screwing them both in or out exactly the same amount. If you turn them in, it will make the RPM's faster, backing the screws out will cause it to idle slower. If you think the screws are not equally positioned, back them all the way out, and then turn them in, about 5 turns each, so that you will know they are even. As for the starter rope, Polaris used 2 types of starters, so I'll just give the basics that apply to both of them. To start you will need to remove the starter from the engine, and then, remove the nut on the inside. There is a spring inside that will need to be detached. After you remove any retainers, it should be possible to maneuver the starter pulley out of it's housing and remove the rope. it's hard to do this without a diagram or prior experience. my recommendation would be a Intertec Snowmobile service Manual, 11 Edition. They are available through companies like Amazon. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you more. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck with the Polaris! --Arcticatman
