Snowmobile Repair: engine direction, piston port, recoil starter

Question
This is not related to a snowmobile, but is a question you may be able to answer. I have a 2 cycle single cylinder piston port engine of 109 cc displacement that I want to convert to large scale RC aircraft use. It is from a snowblower. The engine has a recoil starter and flywheel/magneto on the one end and the output pulley on the other. The output end rotates in a counterclockwise diretion, which is good except that the muffler is on this end and would interfere with installation of a prop!. I want to eleminate the flywheel and mag setup and use a transistorized ignitiio system. This is to save weight and improve low speed operation. By using the electronic ignition, is it possible to fabricate a prop hub on the original flywheel side of the engine and chance its original rotation so that the flywheel side will now rotate in a counter clockwise direction? The engine is piston ported and the carb is on the side of the piston. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Wayne,

I'm not going to say anything specific, only because I don't know anything about aircraft, and don't want your plane to crash, on my advice. That said, the engine won't run with out a flywheel. Your best bet, is to get a machine shop to make a custom pipe/muffler set up, so that it won't interfere with the prop. You don't really even need much of an exhaust system, unless noise would be a problem. Sorry I don't know too much about the subject. I'd really like to help you out.
