Snowmobile Repair: engine swap, yamaha 440, mechanical experience

Question
I have 2 older sleds. The first is an '82 Yamaha 440 SS that really runs great. My second sled is a '93 Arctic cat Jag. It is kind of a dog, but is a nice riding sled when all of the variables (i.e. weather , tuning etc.)
My question is this, how feasible is it to take the motor out of the Yamaha and put it into the Jag? Is this something people do? My experience with riding is somewhat limited, my mechanical experience is even more so.

The reason I ask, I think it might be a fun project if it would work.
Thanks, Adam.

Answer
Hello Adam,

Nothing is impossible, with that said I wouldn't recomend swaping the engines. When it comes to hooking up the oil injection and cooling system, I think you would have a hard time. Not to mention the mounting plates are different. Why not do some work on the Jag, like putting in a bigger carb, rebuilding the motor with a high-performance kit, ect. You would probably have more fun that way, and at least you would be able to put everything back together with out much trouble. I hope my suggestions are helpful! Good luck on what you decide to do! --Arcticatman
