Auto Insurance Claims: Social Security Number

Question
Some one hit my car while it was parked and accepted 100% liability and called his insurance company. His insurance company called me and accepted 100% liability but asking for my social security number before they pay the claim and told me without that information claim will not be paid. Really need help on how to proceed. Thanks

Answer
Hi John,

As is the case with most insurance claims, you must provide a social security number. This is for reporting purposes as well as claim tracking purposes. If they require it to pay the claim then you must provide it.

I hope this helps
