Snowmobile Repair: wireing, mag wire, headlight bulb

Question
Hi, I have wrote to you a few times now and I havent had a reply, I was wondering if you have got to it yet, or maybe it got  lost, but if you could help me i really need it...
I have a 77 skidoo evertest 440, what I was wondering was if I could take the magnito wire that goes to the ignition switch, to deliver power to the lights,... can I wire my light wire straight to the mag. wire to have lights all the time. I have tried this and it seemed like it drained the power to the sled, it would barly stay running... plese help me soon the snows on its way.
Thank You,
Joe

Answer
Hello Joe,
I don't think it would be a good idea to wire directly to the magneto. I know having a head light is important. I would recomend taking a wire  and spliceing it into the tail light wiring. It probably won't look nice but at least you would have a light. Also make sure your headlight bulb isn't blown. I have replied to all of your questions and am sorry if you haven't had a answer. Good luck with the sled! Mr.W
