Steering Column Repair: replaced steering shift tube


Question
have a 1996 ford f-150 truck non tilt steering... the steering shift tube broke off... after it broke i was able to manually put the truck into all gears and start it and drive it it was just a pain because i had to crawl under the dash to shift gears... bought a new one and replaced it... now the truk will turn over (or crank) but will not start... can u please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?

I'm sorry about your truck.  
Your truck has an inertia cutoff switch for the fuel system.  It's a reset button that is usually located behind the right side kick panel.  (round red button--just push it down)

The only things I can see that would be related is the ignition switch connection itself under the column.  Possibly one of the wires that connect inside the plug has come our of the connector or the connector itself has come loose.  Aside from that, check your fuses.


Those are all the things I can think of that would give you the symptoms you are describing.
